I randomly emailed this person on the reunion registry hoping it was my half brother. The man's wife has been emailing back and forth with me. It's not my brother, but she has given me all sorts of advice. Since my mother is deceased, I can access her medical records. That means I can at least have a birthdate. OMG. Total duh moment. I'm recruiting one of my sibs to do the legwork, but we can try this. At least THEN we could sign up for the mutual consent registry. Why didn't I think of this before?
I called the hospital where our half brother was born. Apparently, they destroy records after 10 years, so they don't have records backs to the 1960s. I'm going to try anyhow, but it doesn't look like I will probably find anything.
Regardless, I can at least pass on the advice to anyone else looking for an adopted sibling after your parent is deceased. You can get their records if your state law allows.
