What books have you found helpful when you are dealing with a failed match/adoption? There are MANY books out there on infertility, miscarriage (which they say is similar to a failed match), and so forth. But what recommendations do you have for Christian books on adoption loss?
Thanks!
I actually read a book on just grief, in general. It wasn't all that zippy (as I recall). I didn't look for books on the specific kind of grief, but books on comfort during a time of loss, in general. I found that talking with those who'd BTDT helped more than anything...but I think that depends on the person. (((hugs))) as you go forward.
I did find that I tended to wallow in sad/depressed feelings. Making sure that I get exercise has been a goal since I started to recognize this. Once I heard that exercise is more successful more of the time than drugs for treating depression I decided to make it a mission to pay attention to getting more. I also take vitamins, and work to stay well hydrated. I don't drink X number of glasses of water a day, but I work to drink with meals and before and after exercise.

This book is no fertility/failed match/adoption specific, but it really helped me through our dark times.
Mustard Seeds: Thoughts on the Nature of God and Faith by Lynn Coulter
C.S. Lewis likened hard times to "God’s megaphone," a season when the Creator’s ways are made clear and proven merciful. Mustard Seeds author Lynn Coulter agrees, writing here across fifteen essays about the natural graces and "God signs" that emerged during a three-year period of hardship and sustain her faith today.
