We were just conned by a couple who is shopping around twins, fraternal boy & girl out of Wisconsin. They were in North Carolina prior. They have been in our lives since Nov. 18 and I went to two ultrasounds. She is due Feb. 23. Its like I am having an out of body experience. They want money for the babies, we wouldnҒt break the law, which they knew all along and tonight they told us they werent going with us. Not even an I am sorry. I bought their kids Christmas presents and shared meals with them. I spent hours on the phone talking to her and working through all of this. I called her a friend at one point. Our lawyer said we might be the third or fourth couple they got on this pregnancy alone.
We are devastated, but most of all just want to warn people that as good/safe as a situation may seem, protect yourselves. Protect your hearts.
I have to believe that we are going through this for a reason.
My only recourse is to post this on every adoption board so maybe another couple they are talking to sees it and knows they have no intention of adopting the babies.

Wow I am so sorry for you guys. We had a failed adpotion back in August, and found out that they had scammed us as well. It is a horrible experience, especially when you give so much of your self to them. I still cannot understand what kind of person could do that. We are matched again and due in the beginning of April. We are definitely approaching this one differently. Things do look good but we know that it is still very tentative. These people were told by our laywer about what we went through and they should under no circumstance choose us if they think they might not place because we had been through enough. They agreed and have assured us they are for real. We are going to meet them next week and go to an ultrasound appointment, only time will tell...
I dont' understand how they could string so many families along? Were you paying expenses throughout the pregnancy? Were they all going to the same Dr for ultrasound visits? It must have taken alot of plotting and planning on their part to make this work. I still can't imagine who could do this..
