We had an experience with Unique Adoptions several years back, and it appears that the same sort of experiences are being had by other adoptive parents.
We contracted with Unique Adoptions only because we matched with a birthmom they were representing, and our contract says that. We paid fees to Unique Adoptions only because we matched with that same birthmom for that same unborn child.
All the time, we realized that adoption facilitators are not licensed. All the time, we realized that birthmom expenses were considered gifts.
At the same time, we expected Unique Adoptions to have done their due dilligence prior to contracting with adoptive parents for a specific situation. Yet it wasn't until we had a contract and paid fees for this very specific adoption situation, that we found Unique Adoptions had not received any intake paperwork from the birthmom including proof of pregnancy and financials. They had nothing from the birthmom stating her intention to place the child. They had nothing from the birthmom that she had signed. They had nothing from the birthmom except phone calls.
I keep seeing this happening with Unique Adoptions. I would suggest people consider other avenues when pursuing their adoption situation.
