Independent Adoption Successes

Hi folks, DH and I are in the process of narrowing our options between domestic and Russian adoption and the associated programs. One thing we're thinking about in order to control costs is Independent adoption. Is anyone willing to share their strategy for a successful Independent Domestic Infant adoption? How did you identify birth-parents? How long did it take from start to homecoming? What were the most successful advertising methods? What are the pitfalls? Did you have an agency experience that pushed you toward independent adoption? Why did you choose independent adoption? Any information you are willing to share is greatly appreciated!
