There are a couple of full service agencies in our state that have a flat fee. My understanding is that we pay nothing (beyond application & home study) until the child is legally placed with us. This is great for the risk factor and planning a budget. But, the fee is pretty high, and there tends to be a pretty long wait as not as many infants are place in our state compared with others.
The same agencies (and others) offer "agency assisted" to maximize our opportunities. They recommend working with other referral services & out of state agencies. In addition to networking and private advertising. I guess this "agency assisted" thing kind of makes me feel like we are really on our own... and kind of like we are paying twice for some of the same things...
Has anyone had the experience of flat fees vs agency assisted? pros/cons?
