I'm new to the forums...it seems like the placemant are slow if you are not a foster home first as apposed to a straight adoptive home. Has any one had any placements in the 0-4 recently?

Just brought home our new daughter 2 weeks ago in SoCal but she has medical issues. There are a lot of adoption only medical kids listed and some are minor issues so don't close out that option completely as many can overcome or outgrow some problems in the right home. (baby girl is 17 months)

What county are you licensed for? Maybe that is the issue...we are located in San Bernardino County and seems to be busy. We have been licensed since September 2011 (so 5 1/2 months) and have been considered for a baby every month. Just recentely got selected for a 4 month old and the court is ruling out one more biological family to see if they want to care for him...if they opt out of caring for him, he's ours! We are open to everything except medically fragile and our age range is newborn to 12 months (which is very specific). My husband has a steady job and I am a homemaker. We do not have any other children and we are in our mid thirties...maybe that has something to do with why we have been considered so many times??? Our social worker told us when we were doing our home study that me being a homemaker (future stay at home Mommy) is a major plus.
Only advice I can give is to check in with your Social Worker every month to see if there has been any activity with your profile and/or if there are any concerns when panels consider your family for a child but do not choose your family.
I understand that the waiting part of this process can be the most challenging but it will be worth it.
Stay hopeful and positive!
Mammitas,
Please be careful when you hear comments from CW's who tell you that being a homemaker is "a major plus". If you are placed with children who still have not had their birthparent rights terminated, you may find yourself doing a lot of driving to get them to their visitations, therapy, etc. My husband and I were placed with adoptive placements..CPS decided to go from TPR back to RU. We ate up all of our vacation time at work driving all over heck.
If you are looking for an adoptive placement, I wouldn't want to hear that from a CW.
I hope you get the right placement at the right time.
