2011 Tax Credit

So after going to last years threads and keeping track of how everyone was faring, I figured I would start one for this year.... We sent out documents on 1/30/2012. I heard nothing until this week when WMR was updated to say my paperwork was received:clap: and if no delays I would recieve my refund on 3/27/2012. So being who I am, I called. The first person I spoke to told me that my document was received on 2/8/2012. So at 14 days later I called again and I got a very helpful reviewer on the phone. 2011 tax return was not showing up in the system BUT....he asked if I was calling about our 2009 Audit????? That was news to me, so apparently we are being audited over 289.00 adoption credit carried over from 2005. That was the last bit used up in that final year. He was dumbfounded that we were being audited over less than 300$ but thinks maybe the TT checking for any leftover carryover last year (with new documentation requirements) triggered this. He does not think this will delay our 2011 taxes. So while I am anxiously waiting for any updates on my 2011 special needs adoption credit, I will begin pulling the documents I will need to document our 2005 sn adoption. I described to him how I flagged our 2011: pink postit note on the front indicating were the 8839 documents were, highlighted the names and special needs designation statements and an original court decree for finalization (paid extra to get several "originals"). He said that taking the time to do that will be helpful because every state, every county, every court has a different document and if it is easy for the processor to find the info needed, it will go more smoothly. Also....put your phone numbers on everything so they can call if need be! Also, if you check WMR too many times in a day you will disappear unless you clear your cookies before you check. So there you have it.....the beginning of our 2011 journey. I learned so much from everyone last year....lets share the wealth (and frustrations) again....good luck to you all! Emily
