So Gov. Christie is changing the name of DYFS. It will now be the Department of Child Protection and Permanency. DCPP.
Hm. That is kind of a mouthful.
Here is an article about the change:

thanks for the info! it almost gives the idea that althought reuniting is the main goal, maybe more children will be up for adoption for "protection and permanency." i just finished the pride training and they said that now unlike previous years they start talking with foster parents early on about adoption if need be. it all sounds hopeful to me. i am single and dont have any biological children but am trying to foster/adopt. i have my first homestudy this wednesday:)

This is true on my FSs' case (that DYFS starts talking about adoption early on if need be). I think this is a REALLY good thing. Personally, I can't be an adoptive resource for these boys :(, so instead of them staying with us for months and months and becoming very bonded, a pre-adoptive family was identified. We are working on transitioning the boys. It is a very good situation, both for the boys and the new family. I will miss them terribly, but this is a good, good thing.

I don't want to persuade you in any way but what they tell you in Pride training is pure hogwash. In our case, we heard a lot about FS mother and how she is non-compliant and how she time and again does the same stuff to get the kids pulled. Once we said that we were willing to adopt FS, things did a 180 and now they're standing on their heads to get kids reunited with the mother.
