I am searching for my son. A male child born 4/17/1980 in Jacksonville, FL at University Hospital. The adoption was handled by Catholic Charities in Jacksonville, FL. I contacted them and was told it would cost me $200 for any information. I live on SSI and my income is less than $700 per month. I just can not afford their fee. Is there anyone out there that can circumvent this agency and help me get more info about the whereabouts of my son. I am ill with Lupus and want desperately to find him and make peace with him.
Thanks,
X Mykil
Onefairelady,
I am a beginner volunteer searching and I need to know if this is all of your information?

Thank you. I'll email you in a bit.
QUOTE=onefairelady]His birth name was Christopher Patrick Gissendaner. I am pretty sure his parents changed his name. :wings:[/QUOTE]
Hi! I am sorry to hear about your situation. I am an adoptee and I too suffer from lupus.
Have you contacted FARR to register? Sign up with ISRR? ISRR is free and many states and agencies include its forms with their own info. The non-ident with Catholic Charities is $35 it looks like the search assistance is $300... but they should offer you an option to apply for financial waiver due to your disability...have you asked for that?
FARR(florida adoption reunion registry) also has a way to waive their fee to register-obtain non-id due to disability -one of the criteria is SSI so you should have no problem starting there. You may want to submit the same financial form to Catholic Charities to ask for additional waiver of fees so that you can get them working for you. Its horrible that they require payments to help us get them to look at our own records!
Continue posting wherever you can so he can find you if he looks. Unfortunately, men have a habit of searching at an older age but he's getting to the point that he may have or be thinking about having a family and that can be a turning point...
