My husband & I were recently intereviewed in consideration for a sibling group of 3 girls, ages 3, 6, and 9. We don't have any children now so we are excited & know we may have some suprises in store. We will know next week if we are a match. Originaly we were going to adopt younger children, but we have open arms & hearts for these girls. What can you expect when bonding / meeting with older children? Any advice would be appriciated!
ask questions, many many questions, and think with your head not with your heart.
why are they not adopted by their foster family?
why were they removed?
are they sexually active?
health issues?
behavioral issues?
attachment issues? R A D
what are their liked and dislikes?
ask for FULL DISCLOSURE on all 3, BEFORE you do anything else.
I really hope and wish for you that it all works out, but you have to ask questions otherwise you might walk blind into a situation you can't handle as a couple and as a family.
best wishes, and keep us posted.
