I want to give all of you some advice on the AAP.
Dh and I have faithfully been following a budget for the last three years so we know how much money we're spending and for what. We also knew that once Nick's per diem went bye bye it would be really tight.
Our lawyer sent the expense form that goes with the application one day around lunch and asked to have it back by the end of the day. I quickly filled it out and sent it back. I was really shocked because it said we were going to have a lot of money leftover. I knew that wasn't right.
We got the application back with Medicaid and NRAE approved, but any daily amount was denied. At that point, we took a good look at that expense sheet. It really was not an adequate representation of what we spend. Dh decided to fight it. When he went to negotiate the amount. He took his budget spreadsheet from last year. They could see that there was only a little bit left over every month with The per diem. Our lawyer was really shocked when they gave us the full amount.
My advice: keep a budget and know where your money goes. If you spend more that is not covered on the expense sheet, write it in. Hopefully this helps some of you.
