I have reached a point in my life where I'd like to at least get the basic information about my biological family/adoption. The only fact about my adoption that I know is that it was done through a lawyer rather than an agency. I also have my amended birth certificate which states the hospital and city where I was born. Does anyone have any information regarding how to find out information regarding the lawyer/law office? Surely the state holds records of who handled this? I do not know where to begin with no starting information. My adoptive parents offer no answers. Thanks in advance for any resources or assistance!
I am no expert but I think it depends on the state. I wish I could be of more help but just wanted to wish you luck. Hopefully someone will come along who can make more concrete suggestions.

[FONT="Comic Sans MS"]I too was adopted through a lawyer and not an agency. I have a letter of my adoption hearing that was sent to my adopted mother (she is my dad's sister). I have tried to locate the lawyer and the firm, but it seems to not exist anymore. :( :hissy: My adopted mom will not discuss anything concerning my adoption with me either. I have both my original BC and my amended one. I was born in one state and adopted in another.
I have been told that I should begin by searching the state I was adopted in. By trying to get court records. I am trying to do that now, along with other means of obtaining information! I have hit endless brick walls but maybe this will produce results. :flower: :fish:
