Need advice-independent adoption

My husband and I are starting our 3rd adoption. The first two times we used an agency so we did our home-study and waited for "the call" this time we are starting our home-study and hoping to expand our family through an independent adoption. I really am not sure how to market ourselves. My plan was to send letters to ob/midwife offices, friends, families, and maybe churches. My plan for letters is to write a short letter to the recipient about who we are and what we are doing while having a letter to the mom included, we just revised our previous profile letter and added a couple pictures. What else can I do to make this work for our benefit, I am at a loss. This process seems so much scarier than using an agency but I really feel this is the way we are to go. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
