Only 5 posts total and she has already hit the hot buttons for vaccinating (animals AND children no less) and circumcision. Breastfeeding anyone?
She also wants to adopt internationally (but is deathly afraid of flying), domestically, and from foster care. And wants twins.
Wow! LOL!

"Mainstream Parenting"....huh.
Wonder how she feels about toothpaste.

I think she is young, idealistic, and naive, but yeah Lorraine, she makes me tired too. Just glad she doesn't live next door to me!
She probably uses baking soda...
What concerns me about the vaccinating (or not vaccinating), is that most of these women have never seen what the actual disease can do. I personally have had measles, mumps and chicken pox; polio vaccines were invented in my life time and I remember the polio epidemics that occurred before the vaccines. None of it was pretty. I wonder who they'd sue if their children got the side effects from any of the diseases they refused to vaccinate for. (I hope their children never step on any rusty nails.)
BTW, at least one of my uncircumcised grandchildren has had an infection.
Sorry... Oh, and by the way, I have my dogs vaccinated and have never had a problem.
These are all comments I won't make on open forums because they won't change anyone's mind. (BTW, my brother's arm was paralyzed by the mumps - his didn't go to his neck.)
Now that I've blown off steam, can you tell I'm tired?
I think the comment of "I can't put my first children in danger or sacrifice them JUST for some real live children" is where I have my major problem.
Do you think it's rude to say....don't have any then?;)
Baking soda for toothpaste rocks!!! Add a little mint and you are good to go. Doesn't address that flouride thing though....;)
Deb, you should post that on one of the "Toddler learning to brush teeth" discussions...

I want to post it on her thread just to make sure she is well informed. LOL!
Personally I am fine with toothpaste, vaccines, and circumcism. I am so mainstream. :)
My pets are behind on vaccines, not because of any ideology on my part but because it's such a pain to get them all into the vet. I attended bible study for years with a woman who had polio as a child. I had chicken pox. Plus I have visited orphanages where the kids do die from mumps and such. Of my three sons I did circ my adopted one but only because he was having issues and the urologist said that it would start causing him pain in a few years. Again, not because of ideology, but I left it up to dh, since I figured I didn't know what I was doing what with not having one. LOL. He made his decision on the basis that insurance didn't cover it. LOL. I did recently make my own laundry detergent, but that was cause I am cheap. As for toothpaste I don't care what my kids use, I would just be thrilled to get them to brush their teeth regularly and wash their hands. I would also love for my boys to learn to aim and clean up after themselves. LOL

Well now you are just talking crazy! LOL!
I bought Kyle a light up spin toothbrush as one of his 13th bday gifts. Why? Because the boy believes brushing teeth means sticking it in his mouth (toothpaste is optional) for 5 seconds.
This toothbrush has a 2 minute light show that displays 4 colors. 1 color for each "zone" in your mouth. When the color changes, you switch to the next zone and when the 2 minutes are up, the lights go off.
He said the usual "Mooooomm! Seriously? A toothbrush????" Yes dear....;)

Crick are you a glutton for punishment?
I've personally had mumps, chicken pox and rubella. My cousin had polio. I am all for vaccinations.
When I had dogs, they were vaccinated. Heck, if I had fish now they would be vaccinated (don't want my kids getting anything from the goldfish) lol.
She definitely rubs me the wrong way.
When my sister and I were little, Mom exposed us to to rubella hoping we would get in then. We didn't, although both of us apparently developed antibodies.
Sharon had whooping cough when she was a baby... Some of these mothers are so complacent... (BTW, according to my brother the doctor, studies have disproved any correlation between vaccines and autism.
I knew that they were not the cause, LOL. My oldest was diagnosed with Aspergers and the only surprise in my husbands family was that it had a name. Both my father in law and his sister fit the diagnosis and others in early generations would have been diagnosed with classic autism and most of them were kids before there were vaccines. (and the kids with more severe symptoms never got them because they didn't go to school, which was where vaccines were given at first)
