We are approaching a mediation on the 31st for a TPR case. FD was placed in home in Dec. 2010 for abuse and neglect by dad. He was sentenced and currently in prison for a long time. FD was not given back to mom because further abuse was determined. Mom was given a case plan of RU, of course, but has been stagnant on case since beginning. She has mental issues, and can not achieve proper parenting skills. TPr was filed in March due to FD being in care 15 months of 22, but was dismissed and RU continued. Mom was given opportunity to have unsupervised visits, but they were revoked after 2 weeks, due to safety issues. For example she was instructed not to have visitors during visits, and not to leave while visiting. She continued to do everything not instructed to do, so they were revoked and she went back to supervised visits. Since then she has also continued to not improve in her parenting skills. She has to have supervision to parent her child, as everyone agrees child is not safe with her alone. Someone has to tell her what to do at all times, when child is present. She has not missed one visit, but she refused to go to parenting class twice, but now she has attended some classes. Mediation is set for 31st, and if no signature, then trial on Sept. 17th. Can anyone enlighten me on what they think or what to expect. DCS, CASA, and service providers all agree to adoption plan.
You might want to post on the other board. This one gets so few readers. I can't give an opinion because we aren't even finished with the licensing process yet.
