Well after many issues with the county we were advised to file for De Facto Parent status. How long does it usually take once you file before you hear back if it was approved or not?
Thanks
We filed de facto at the closest upcoming hearing.....it was granted right there at the hearing by the judge. I don't know how long it takes to file outside a hearing.

I sent the paperwork at the end of September last year and got it back a couple of weeks later, with an "approved" stamp from the judge. There was no hearing as far as I could tell. The judge did acknowledge my presence in court and the de facto status at the hearing a few weeks later.
I filed the paperwork myself with some guidance from Advokids. You can get the forms and instructions from their website, which is their name plus dot org.

sorry about all the duplicate postings above. I don't know if it's the site or my computer, but something is goofy.

We have a hearing this week to see if we are going to be granted De Facto Parent Status. We had hoped it would be granted without a hearing but we are ready.
