Now that it's really getting cold, I'm trying to get my son (3) to wear his hat. He complains that it's itchy. I have many types of hats and most are soft fleece. There are no tags or anything that seem like they would be itchy. He doesn't scratch or complain of an itchy head when he's not wearing the hat so I don't think it's dry scalp, lice or anything like that. Anyone else have this problem or have ideas? He has super thick, tight curls that I usually keep very short but in winter, I let it grow out a tiny bit figuring it'll keep his head a little warmer. I do have one of those silky, tight hats that I've seen black guys wear and in the past I put that on and put his fleece hat on top and it seems to help but then it's two hats to keep track of :hissy:

My girl is always complaining about an itchy head, even without the hat. Of course, at almost 3 she is starting to learn that boo-boos/itching/etc gets a reaction from me. My problem is that she has a HEAD of hair now. Seriously, it's nearly impossible to get a child's sized hat on her head with all her deliciously awesome curls. My next step is to find ear muffs, because I figure with all that insulation, her head is warm enough, right? lol
My grandkids love the ear flap hats that I have crocheted for them from soft acrylic yarn. Acrylic is what NICUs usually ask that donated preemie caps be crocheted or knitted from. Things made from cotton yarn are good, too. If you don't crochet or know anyone who does, I'm sure you could find tons of hats on Etsy.
