Wow - where do I start? I posted here a long time ago looking for my 'potential' birth brother (around 2002), however, I was looking even before that.
Kept hitting brick walls and I 'gave up'. On October 20, 2012, I received a phone call from a person with information ...we compared stories and she put me in touch with a man who, on the surface, appeared to be my brother.
I received an email that night with a photo of this man - holy moly! He was(is) a spitting image of my father!
Fast forward to November 25 and the long awaited DNA results .... 98.24% likelihood that we are full-blooded siblings! (Duh, I could have told them that without all that scientific mumbo-jumbo).
Since October 20, Doug and I have spoken on the phone at a minimum of once a day and we are constantly texting! He lives about 4 hours from me and we got to spend the day with his family on November 25!
This whole thing has been crazy-amazing and I wouldn't trade it for ANYTHING. He has been in contact with my dad (who claims he knew nothing of him - whatever), and they facetimed yesteray (12/4) for the first time -- both were mesmerized by the similarities.
Doug and his family will be coming to my house just after Christmas so we can spend more time together -- we have 45 years to make up for!
Doug is only 17 months younger than me and I can say that I am so blessed to finally have my brother!!
Thanks to sites like this, he found me! :cheer: :cheer:

I just stumbled upon this site and your post prompted me to become a member. I had a sibling find me last year and it has been life-changing.
Was your brother's adoption open or did you hire investigators?
Thankfully, my sister's adoption was open and she found me on facebook! I must say, I truly appreciate social media now.
I just wanted to let you know I understand your joy and am excited for you!

We don't think his adoption was legal ... it's a very long story. I posted here and a couple of other sites about 12 years ago. An incredible search angel was contacted by him and she found my posting.
I'm very happy for you as well!
Wow.
Thanks for sharing this. I just reached out to my own birth family and am waiting (hoping) for a response. Hearing stories like this, about successful reunions, really helps.
Best of luck to you, Pendi!
