We haven't had a placement since mid November. I have 4 FP friends with empty homes right now. I'm in Southern California.
Are you getting any calls for placements in other areas of the state or is slow where you're at too?

I'm in northern CA and its slow. We got our first call a few days ago and we've been certified since November '12. We're hoping we get this placement because it's for a newborn baby girl, just what we've been praying for! I called around Christmastime and I was told that placements are slow during Holidays but pick up after the new year. Good luck in getting some calls soon!
I'm in N. CA too and we have been waiting sense August. We were specifically wanting a baby boy with Downs Syndrome but now have broadened our search to pretty much any baby boy, still nothing..... (we are doing foster -adopt not just fostering)
Here things seem to be pretty busy. I'm central CA. Every time I've been at the DCFS office lately there have been multiple littles going home. There have been a lot of babies and a ton of sibling groups. I think if I wanted to open my home to one more I'd have one in a flat second but I don't want to deal with any more visits!
I think it just depends where you are. I had an emergency placement the Saturday before last until Wednesday last week (4 days). The next day I got 2 calls within 2 hours but I turned them down. Believe it or not the reason why I turned the 1st placement down is because all the local schools said they did not have space which sucks because it was the ideal placement. Mom wasn't being compliant and dad was unknown so there were no visits scheduled. I did not want any school drama like I had with a former placement. 2nd placement I turned down was because dad had a history kidnapping the kids and the visits scheduled for mom were too much! Ended up seeing the principal to my kids school who by the way I have a great relationship with and he tells me he did have space for the kiddos. Oh well too late.
The following day I received another call but turned that placement down as well...kiddo was out of our age range...and even if I had wanted to take the placement for sure no space at local schools. This placement sounded good because DCFS would have arranged and monitored visits at the location of our choice but something didn't sound right about that...Sounds way too easy!
Then I called for a 1 day respite over the weekend for a teen which is completely out of my age range but I thought I'd try it out. Everything went fine! Teen went home yesterday. Now today I was just sitting here wondering why I hadn't received a call. I got online and seen this thread and started typing a response and GUESS WHAT...MY PHONE STARTED RINGING as soon as I started typing this reply. I"M GETTING A NEW PLACEMENT....YAY!
When I feel like I need a new placement! I'm gonna come here and reply and see if it works again!

Congrats on being placed in the matching book. Were still waiting to be matched. I have gotten so many calls for younger kids lately. I have a worker literally calling me everyday for a 4mo girl and a 1.5 year old boy. Can't take them though.
We just went into the book on March 21 for a girl 7-10yrs of age. Four hours after our AW left our house to update our HS, she e-mailed me info on a girl but it just wasn't the right match. Hoping we're matched quickly!
It took 3 months to be matched with our boys which would actually be good timing this time, too since that will be the beginning of summer break :cheer:

I wish you could pass the referral. We've been waiting almost 1.5 yea for a girl in that age range. Amazing how it varies from person to person. What County are you in?

We're in Riverside County. What county are you in?
We have to be very particular because she will be sharing a room with our 9yr old daughter. I have to put her safety before anything else.
Finally got the call today after being in the matching book since February 22nd. Waiting for my case worker to call back with a date for full disclosure. Hope you all get the call soon :)
