I just have to share this with someone and it is too soon to start telling friends and family. Just got matched with a 10 month old boy this afternoon.
It will be long wait before we can meet him. First a SW-SW meeting, than a formal presentation to us by child's SW, then probably a screening by UCLA-TIES. Which means probably at least two months of waiting until we can meet.
But we have been waiting a quite a while. We started the PS-MAPP class with LA county DCFS in May 2011, and it took until Aug 2012 to get our homestudy done (went through 3 different SW's before it got completed!). So it feels so good to finally have some progress.
Congrats!!! That is sooooo exciting! You must be dyeing to meet him! Praying it goes quickly to a seamless transition!

thanks for all the support!
We still don't know much about the child, except name, age, and relative health. The next step is for our SW to conference call with the child's SW and if they agree we would be a good match, then the child's SW will make a formal presentation to us. (Hopefully we'll get to see a picture then).
MountainMommy this is technically fost/adopt, as parental rights have not been terminated yet, but LADFCS views it as low risk. Birth mother has lost previous children to adoption and was not offered reunification services on this one.

That's awesome! Low legal risk is what we are aiming for as well. I hope you have a faster transition so you can start that bonding. Good luck!
Woooohooo! So very happy for you! Is your sw Allison by any chance? I almost went thru UCLA-Ties, but in the end didn't because I had already met her previously and went with my gut. :)
Congrats and Merry Christmas!

rm41more,
Yes we had the presentation meeting last wednesday. It's a boy, about a year old. Been in foster care since 3 months, after hospitalization for failure to thrive. Birth mom still has visits, but the TPR hearing is scheduled for February.
Next step is to meet him, which will hopefully be next week. SWs say usually for a child this age its 3-4 visits and then you can take him home.
Thanks so much for everyone's support. It's still nerve wracking, but looks like its going to work out.
That's awesome. We have our disclosure meeting tomorrow. Can't wait to get this part over and done with.
