Ive been contacted by two sisters my mother released for adoption at their birth. In mid-January 2011 I was contacted, through CAROLYNҒS COMPOSITIONS (CAROLYN'S COMPOSITIONS adoption category ADOPTION CAROLYN'S COMPOSITIONS ), my online magazine, by a sister my mother released for adoption. In early February 2012 I was contacted through my online magazine, by a second sister my mother released for adoption.
They were able to locate their biological family---mine---because they were released for adoption in two states which have opened original birth certificate access to adult adoptees over 18 years of age---New Hampshire in June, 2007 and Massachusetts since May 2007.
It˒s been an interesting journey introducing these two adoptees into their biological family. I learned fast to allow the task to be done at their discretion.
In 2012 I wrote a birthday letter to my late mother:
Mom,
Happy 90th birthday!
Were you still here with us I would wish you a happy birthday in person.
I (along with some of my siblings) would also present you with a gift, a very special gift, yet one which Im not certain how youҒd receive. Your gift was sixty-three years in the making.
The gift: all nine of your babies are present and accounted for, including the two you released for adoption years ago.
Earlier this week your third child, a daughter, Sib-Sis #3, contacted me via a comment on my blog. I was five years old when she was born, and I was living with your parents while you worked in an adjacent state. I didnt know for certain of her birth until Tuesday evening, when she posted a comment on my blog. I suspect that you released her for adoption at birth. You were simply not in a position to care for her. You couldnҒt manage to care for my older Lee and I at the time, a reason we were living with our grandparents.
It was just a year ago that your fourth child, Darlene, contacted me via a comment on my blog. I was ten years old (to read more click on My Mothers Special 90th Birthday Gift (My MotherҢs Special 90th Birthday Gift CAROLYN'S COMPOSITIONS ).
