Anyone have experience with same state relative placement? How long does it take (do they have to wait for all classes and homestudy or can child/ren live with them while this is going on) and would an old conviction show up from more than 30 years ago?
TIA.
I've had placements go to relatives right away, within a week, and then some have waited til the next court hearing...a month or so...they definitely have their home checked out...not sure about it being an official homestudy...as far as I'm aware they do not have to have the classes completed but I believe its an option to recieve kinship stipend? but I'm not sure on that last part...

Here one conviction 30 years ago with nothing more current would may not deter placement unless it was something against children or something like murder (of course most of those people would still be in prison I suppose 30 yrs later). Your local CPS office should be able to answer that question based on your state laws and the local judges that would be on the case.
