So, do people see "foster child" listed on a chart and automatically shut off all logic and professionalism? From nursing to surgeries it seems like everyone involved makes it as hard as possible to get anything done and when it is done, they do it half way. Mickey is scheduled to have surgery this week. I have been fighting with the hospital for the last two weeks over medical consent. It came to the point that his GAL finally got a court order telling them to let us sign the medical consent (even though Mom had already given her permission to us). Now I get a call asking for the pre-op physical. Ahhh last time we talked you said you would let me know if you needed one and you never talked to me since then other than for medical consent!!! So now Mickey is missing school to go have a last minute physical. My worst nightmare is that we get there for surgery and they will have come up with some other hoop to jump through so that the surgery can't happen.
Having been through 3 surgeries with 2 of my boys in the last 2 months, I can relate! Our adoptions were finalized long ago so there wasn't any issue with permissions etc., but just dealing with doctors, nurses, admins, etc. etc. who are sometimes not on the same page and dealing with insurance etc. etc. is all very stressful, so I feel for you with the additional stress they are causing you!
Can you have the GAL call the day before the surgery to be sure everything is ready to go and they have all their t's crossed?

Actually, Mickey's GAL has asked if he can come to the surgery. I said yes of course! The GAL is apparently knows lead council for the hospital. I'm still nervous though. They just seem to be going out of their way to find something wrong.
I have done 30+ surgeries with my BS, Snurf so this isn't my first walk in the park. A few were even at this particular hospital center. I just can't believe how much harder they are making it.
