My first home visit is next week and I am soooo nervous!!! EEP! What things should I expect to happen? How detailed are they about looking at things. I feel like it is going to be a home inspection when you buy a house. I am so scared. haha Also what are some good questions that you wish you would have asked? Or did ask? I am trying to make a list, and I can't think of things! HELP!

I am sure it varies by state and agency but my agency gave us a list. I would ask for one? Mine basically looked for things on the list, a lot of stuff they didn't even bother to look for but I was irritated I took so much time to do it so I pointed stuff out anyways lol. Clean, if it is 2 stories an escape ladder (like one of those swingy fabric type from Lowes), a supply of emergency food and water, battery powered crank radio, flash lights, first aid kit. You will probably want beds/cribs in order and car seats. Ours makes us postt an evacuation plan on each floor (we can take them down, no one has asked about it since, the kids ca't read yet anyways)

My first home visit (not inspection, but homestudy visit) they barely glanced into the rooms, and I had even thoroughly cleaned the inside of the fridge! I was freaking out because I hadn't gotten to all the cabinets.
It was loads and loads of questions. Two hours worth, and they had to come back because we couldn't finish in that time.
A lot of it was really personal, but they were sweet and not judgmental.
Are they going to care that our house is still somewhat under construction. We are only going to be fostering newborns, and they will be in our room with us, and we just hung the drywall in that room yesterday. We have an older home 1939 and the walls were just horrible. But that isn't going to be a problem right? Gah, I am just freaking out. I need everything to be perfect and stuff that like that is out of my control. :hissy:
