Hello all!
I am no stranger to the forums, but typically stay in the foster parent support area.
I thought I would introduce myself over here, because dh and I are literally days away from our official license as therapeutic foster parents!
DH and I have known each other 8 years, been together for almost 4, and married for almost a year! (A year next month!! ) DH was a ward of the state, but in a kinship situation. I was adopted via closed adoption at birth and went through various levels of attachment/abandonment issues before my parents finally had enough of my teenage angsty hell and put me in an RTC/Group home for high school. So, both of us have had our own experiences with "the system" and we really want to give back! We have struggled with some infertility (no diagnoses but after 2-3 years still no baby!) and want to adopt but after we adopt we want to continue to foster for as long as we can! We are licensed for up to 3 children, 0-18, either gender with a strong preference for boys 0-12. I stay home as a childcare provider and dh works for a country club. I am also an author/blogger. We have 2 fur-babies. :)
Since all of our future kiddos are expected to be special needs, I thought this area of the forums might be particularly useful and supportive for me!!
So anyways, hello all and I look forward to sharing with you!!
I have been following you on the other board, and on your website. Are you just waiting to receive your license in the mail? I have been so excited for you guys and really anxious to see who you will get as a placement!

Hi :)
I'm a lurker and occasional poster here. Had a read through your posts and blog. Good luck with growing your little patio garden :) I just love nature/gardening/flowes etc, but I only have a small back garden and precious little time, so I make do with herb pots on the kitchen sill. I'm a bit jealous of proper vegetable growing :D
I Hope your license is complete and you get your first placement soon :) Are you going to accept any definite foster-only placements at the start or just potential adoption ones?

We are waiting on the last person to sign off on our approval and then we have to come in and sign an approval contract with our agency. THEN we are officially open!
I was told by my worker to expect a call sometime this week! (A call to come in and sign our contract not a placement call!)

Aw thanks! Who knows how much of my garden will actually flourish- this is my first year doing it and it's a test run to see what will actually grow!! Peppers, cucumbers, and lettuce are SUPER easy though so you could totally do it!! Water them every other day and you are golden!!
Ideally, we want to adopt first and then continue to foster until we have no room to foster. However, we are open to just about any situation (including emergency and respite placements) if our agency feels it's a good fit and/or if there is a strong need! So, other than severe medical issues- we are really open. Lord only knows what we have gotten ourselves into!! :D
