So she is on Adderall and they had me breaking up three capsules and putting it in the apples sauce and I'm waking up and can't go back to sleep. I feel like I got PMS all the time. I don't think it is normal stress, I'm not really more stressed than normal. So I'm wondering if I could be absorbing it from her some how? When our cat was on a medicine to reduce his thyroid and I broke up those pills my thyroid went down and it was always normal. When he died it went back to normal. Anybody know if I could be some how getting that stuff in me some how? I normally don't have these issues unless I use an inhaler or drink caffine.

They are switching to concerta so no more opening the capsules. She downed it whole without an issue. I'm not sure if I'm happy about that or not. I could never do that easily. It scares me that she is taken to taking pills just like this. Tonight she was even asking for another one. So far the only change I've noticed is much more hyper, and more defiant in a more planned kind of way. I can't tell in the day when she is at school. My friend said the purpose is to get them better at school but they are worse at night because of it. Oh that is going to be fun when she goes back to regular school.
Hope that is true, another rough night. Anybody know a web site the tells you what to expect on these drugs, like what is normal? When she was on Adderall she was difficult the first couple of evenings. However, I am starting to get a little more paranoid about these drugs, Tues. night we were driving down our street about 20 mpr and she opened her car door. She wanted to go to the park, she never did anything like that before.

I would normally say you need to give it a week or two to really know for sure, but if she is exhibiting extreme behaviors like trying to open the door of a moving car (and this is out of character) you need to call the doctor ASAP.
What is a wonder drug for one child can be a complete disaster for the next. Unluckily it is trial and error, so aside from the physical side effects that are commonly experienced (sleeplessness or lack of appetite for example) other reactions are hard to say because they vary so much.
I could put 5 parents of children on ADHD meds in a room and we would most likely all swear by a different med and have a horror story about our own child on a med someone else swears by.
