I am trying to come up with some ideas for summertime activities for my 2 daughters (12 & 7) while my cousin babysits them this summer. She is having a tough time keeping them busy with activities that they agree on. She is also trying to keep them from fighting. They have different interests due to the age gap. My youngest has cerebral palsy, so she is limited on things that she can do. She also has some behavior issues. Going for a hike or walk on the beach would be tough. My babysitter has some back problems, so she cannot lift my daughter. Does anyone have any great ideas for activities they can do together that aren't too physical? Thank you!
When J's brother is here (he's 12, she's 8) we do lots of legos. we also go swimming
good luck

Maybe art/craft things? Sidewalk chalk, paper mache, coloring books... There are all sorts of websites for kid crafts. Find some that can be enjoyed by any skill level/age, like the legos already suggested, or modeling clay, shaping and decorating cookie dough, etc.
One thing that might help overall would be to have the babysitter choose what is being done, not allow the kids to decide.
I was also going to suggest crafts. There are books of ideas for things to make from duct tape (and you can probably find ideas online) they can make stuff for Christmas gifts for relatives, beeded things and other things. A walk through a craft store might get you some ideas. Some things like sculpy can be baked and then painted, my kids have made pen covers (wrap it around cheap pens, bake it with the ink part removed) ornaments and jewlery. Those bead things you iron are fun. Then there are some things you can do with pony beads, there are lots of patterns on line for those. My son made some of those as Christmas ornaments and sold them. He made mostly santas. They might like trying friendship bracelets. If you have a video camera or the babysitter has one on her phone they can make movies. Add costumes and accents write silly stories and act them out to show you when you get home. Uno and other board games that work for both ages. Some activity books for when they need to spend some time quietly apart. Making cookies, etc. Good luck.
Many of the child would like to spend time in playing and doing any kind of activities. So Summer may be a time to relax, but tell that to kids who are bouncing off the walls or shrieking. Here are the few list of activities bake cookies for ice cream sandwiches,Volunteer at a nature center
Working on crafts and coloring the images of different things, build a sandcastle and have a water balloon fight.
Kids likes cartoon images or super hero's so you can engage your kid in coloring cartoon characters or any other images. Perhaps this is one of the good activities. Each and every kid would like to color the images. I use to make my DS to color the images i download the images from this site. This site provide good images that kids love. Here you can download the images.
