How to find an agency to work with?...

Welcome to the board! You can probably look it up using Google. Most agencies are privately funded. Your local department of children and family services may have a list too. DCFS also does foster placements, if you are looking for younger children, I'd use them. Good luck!

Hi there! I am also in Va so I know a bit about how it works here. If you find a private agency (google will find them) they typical do ONLY hard to place (ie: heavier medical and emotional needs) children and the one's your county/city can't find a foster home for. If you go through the social services office in your county/city then it greatly expands options. Google social services where you live and there will be links that eventually lead you to the foster care coordinator.
