I hope I posted this in the right section.
We have been on a bit of a roller coaster the past 6 months, we were contacted out of the blue by a young lady who is about to have her baby, but then heard nothing.
The way things were left, it appeared as though she had changed her mind, then on Monday, we were contacted again asking if we still want the baby.
It looks like we can get our home study done in about 4 weeks, if all goes according to plan.
We were told it shouldn't be an issue, but there's always the chance of it going longer of course.
The baby is due in 3 weeks!
I am going to ask our lawyer tomorrow, but of course I am stressed and can't sleep, haha, hoping someone here has an idea of what would happen.
We were matched with a little boy 21 days before his due date. Our homestudy wasn't started.
We talked with the company doing the homestudy and they expedited it for us. We had to do a lot of work quickly to get it done in time but it was done in time for that birth. So I would ask if there is a way to have it expedited even if you have to pay an extra fee for it.
(that match fell through for us, but we used the same homestudy to adopt our little girl a few months later).

I just got an update from the mother, baby is due within 10 days, ugh.
In WA because of the background checks, the fastest possible time will be 3 weeks, it sounds like, but the lady doing the homestudy sounded doubtful.
Still waiting to hear back from the lawyer, I don't do well with waiting! haha
