Hi there, It is still just me and Little Dude. I have put off getting another placement for the time being because of issues with Little Dude. And that's what I want to talk about. When I was in the process of adopting my son, DYFS gave me a hard time about him getting the adoption subsidy (a stipend every month till he is 18). Because he was white, placed in my care as an infant and was not born drug addicted, they didn't want him to qualify. I pushed for it since the birth mother had a history of mental illness and tests showed he had a chromosomal abnormality. Fast forward seven years: I am SO GLAD I pushed for that subsidy. In these past several years, a SLEW of inherited genetic issues have been diagnosed in my son including: asthma, anxiety and ADHD (all the As) Two weeks ago, he was diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum. He is high functioning Asperger's. None of this stuff was apparent when he was an infant but showed up later. I have used that money for therapy (for him AND me!!), summer daycare, doctor's visits out of plan, special toys etc. So, if you are in the process of adopting PUSH FOR THE SUBSIDY!! I am so glad I did and that my adoption worker backed me up. I thank God for that money every month.
