If you could narrow down the time of birth a little bit, I would be willing to look her up in the California Birth Index (CBI). Do you know the county she was born in and the maiden name of her mother? Although the original birth certificates aren't available without court order here in California, the CBI lists all babies born in the state between 1960 and 1980, regardelss of whether they were surrendered to adoption or not. Most adoptees born here between these years have three listings: one under mother's maiden name, one under father's surname, and one under adoptive parents' name. Children born from affairs while their mothers were married usually have a fourth listing with the legal husband's name.
