So we finished the classes and are doing our home study. I think we have had a total of 4 interviews so far with another one already scheduled. I am so excited but at the same time very impatient person when it comes to our case worker. I guess it just seems like one thing after another that we are submitting. Can anyone tell me how long this process is for the home study to be complete. I have literally seen someone get a home study done in a month and I dont know how and someone like me have been doing it since November. Also all you hear on the news these days in Ohio is how kids are born addicted to some form of narcotics. I am curious to know what my chances of getting an infant. We selected an age group from 0 - 5 years of age. We have the room set up with a crib and all which can change, but what are our chances of getting an infant. Is anyone on here from Ohio that have had success stories?
I'm not from Ohio,
Here the certification timeline is about 6 month, from start to finish. When we switched from agency to county it took 3 month, because they honored all our training hours.
If you want a baby, then stick to that, and tell them that.
And, once you're licensed, make sure you KEEP telling them :)
Only accept or even put in your study the older ages, if you mean it, otherwise have it changed to newborn.

Not from Ohio.
Our agency has 60 days from the time you are assigned a coworker to getting the home study complete.
We anticipate 3 or maybe 4 meetings no more than that.
Not from Ohio, but it took us 3mo because we went through an Agency.
In our State, its raining babies. So, requesting to "No" Newborns is unheard of in my area. Depending on the Case, most NB are reunited w/ extended family so you could be very lucky to adopt a child you took home from the hospital or must foster multiple placements to find your forever child.
Thanks all. I am going through the county and doing the same thing my Aunt did and when I spoke to her she was even surprised how long it is taking. She thinks I have a case worker that is new to the system and suggested I go to the supervisor. I just dont want to step on anyones toes and feel bad. I am doing everything she is asking she just drags her feet about it. You would think they would want to move this process along fast.
