Hi ...I am very confused and happy at the same time. One of our previous foster/adopt children's mom called me the other night and told me that she is pregnant and that she does not want the baby, and asked me if me and my husband would be willing to adopt this baby. Of course we would be thrilled to adopt her child, but we have no idea what we need to do to make sure that children services and stuff are not involved as the mom is in a meth clinic for drug rehab.
We are not sure if we need to hire an attorney or if we can sign a contract that states after birth if the birth mother is still in agreement to release the baby to us that our names would go on the birth certificate and we would become legal parents of the child or if we have to have an attorney. I have known people who do surrogates with friends and the birth mother just has the hospital put the waiting parents name on the birth certificate and not hers.
Does anyone have any idea as to what is the best way to handle this situation. We are not made of money per one reason why we chose to do foster to adopt to help cover the cost of adopting any littles ones that need their forever home.
Please help!!!
