Hi everyone,
I'm doing my pride classes right now. We are hoping to foster to adopt a 0-2 year old. I'm very curious on how long each of your children took to get adopted? I know each situation varies but I was just wondering how long everyone's took? And what age did you get them at?
Thanks in advance!!

I've adopted twice from fc. I got both of my children as newborns and it was known from the very beginning that neither one would ever return to their biological family.
With my eldest son there was a set of grandparents interested, but could not meet the requirements of the homestudy to gain placement. Another set of grandparents couldn't take him because they were out of the country too much and he needed, and will continue to need, multiple surgeries for a major birth defect.
Voluntary relinquishment happened when my son was 18 months old. Adoption was finalized when he was 2 yrs 9 months old.
With my youngest son there was a family member who was interested, but for some reason unknown to me, decided not to move ahead with placement. Voluntary relinquishment happened at 3 years of age. Adoption finalized when he was 5 yrs 3 months old.

It looks like we will adopt but we're not expecting finalization until 2015. 2yrs after 2 of our 3 came into our home. The fastest I've heard of finalization is w/in a yr and it involves voluntary relinquishment and no appeals. Since this will not happen in our case, our 2yr timeline is average.
