Too Long Process

So, I have completed every class and submitted every last piece of paperwork. Now I have been waiting. I have tried emailing and calling to check that they at least got the paperwork but have heard zero back. Some of the other applicants have said it took a month to a month and a half for child services to even start their background check. I am expecting not to be licenses for at least 4 months. Beings I started 2-3 months ago with the classes this is a looonnnng time! I wish they would at least confirm that my paperwork went through. I am wondering at this point if my life will be in such a different place 4+ months from now that I won't want to foster once I'm approved. For instance, some friends are offering to pay me to provide daycare for their baby. I was hoping to focus my energy on our foster child, but since I have no idea when that will happen, maybe I should do it? Not sure what I should do. How did you guys deal with the waiting?
