Hello and welcome. We are still waiting to be matched with a single child through LA COUNTY. We've gone through some matchings that were generated from going to the adoption events sponsored by LA COUNTY...but for various reasons those matches did not pan out, overall LA COUNTY has tons of sib sets....however many people on this board have successfully adopted a single child through LA County. I think the fact that you are open to any race puts you ahead of the game. We've been waiting for almost 3 years for a single girl between the ages of 4-7. Originally we were any race...didn't happen. Now we are only open to biracial or AA....SO WE'll see how long we wait now. It seems that a lot of people waiting in La County are wanting girls. I really think it's more about this*family is considered first and if that doesn't pan out *foster parents get first dibs so if they've fostered the child chances are in most cases they usually adopt the child so there's no need for a "matching"If that doesn't work out they start the process of trying to match the child. Social workers call the families that they've worked with previously first, they call the agencies that they have a good working relationship with next, and then they search the system for families waiting...and after that it's shear luck. If you're with County directly or with a preferred agency you will probably have a great experience if not....good luck. I hope your wait isn't long.

Rm41more gave you a pretty realistic picture of the climate in LA @ this time. I do have a couple of friends that will be adopting their FD in the near future. One friend has had her little one since birth while the other has a nearly 5yr old for nearly a year. Another friend unfortunately will most like lose her FD to RU after a year in her home. There's another friend who like Rm has been waiting years after several unsuccessful placements. And then there's another friend who recently decided to actively pursue sibling sets of girls only since single girls are a rarity these days.
Btw we happen to be a sibling set home w/ the desire to only adopt two, well earlier in the year our youngest was placed w/ us from the hospital.
My Hubby and I just recently went to an adoption festival by LA County and we saw 3 single girls that we were interested in. Granted they are older 12-13 years old but county is already working on matches for us. Hoping to have our pre-placement conference within the next two weeks.

Can I ask how you found out the information about the adoption festivals? I am with an FFA so maybe I am not eligible.
