My adoption was a closed one, but when my parents moved at one point, and requested my medical records from the hospital, they screwed up and sent my birth mother's medical records with mine, which included her name.
Long story short, I managed to find her on facebook, I'd say it's a 99.9% chance it's her for sure, with her birth date, and her name which is rather uncommon, and the fact that this woman is still pretty near the area I was born in. Plus we look quite a bit alike.
I'm still waiting to decide if I want to reach out or not, I have a lot of other stressful things going on right now, and I'm not in a position to deal with this right now either. But I'm wondering how appropriate, or legal for that matter, that it would be to simply reach out to her more or less directly, with the information that I have, if I ever do? Since we are not supposed to even have the identifying information, would that even be legal? Or should I be going through the legal hoops trying to get in contact with someone from the original agency, which I think has closed down.
The adoption process was handled in Dallas county, Texas, in 1989, if that helps any.
