My husband and I are interested in becoming foster parents. Before we begin...a year ago my husband had an accident that was deemed "wantonly damage of real property". It truly was an accident but the property owner called the police. A lawyer represented him in court and had it expunged from his record on all levels. Could something like this keep us from becoming foster parents? I don't want to bring it up to the social worker when we apply if it doesn't matter anyway but if it does matter, I just want to know what to expect. Thank you!

My guess is I wouldn't think it would be a problem. My DH had stolen some small items as a teenager and he was required to write it up in his biography they had us do. They wanted the charges written, and explanation of what caused you to do the action, and the outcome and what you learned from it. It was quite silly since he's so much older now but he did it and it was never once questioned.
I'd bring it up right away to the SW just to be safe and also to clear it up. GL!
I agree with PP. I would bring it up right at the beginning. Becoming a foster parent is a long drawn out process. I would hate for you to go through all that then find out that it is an issue. At least it will set your mind at ease.
But to be honest, I doubt that it is going to be an issue.
