Hello,
Just when I was about to give up I was sent the profile for a toddler who has been exposed to meth. Well, exposed to meth & heroin before birth and intententionally given meth to subdue after birth. :(
Behaviors include extreme tantrums for no apparent reason, high pitched screaming, throwing things, hitting. No impulse control, no empathy, uncontrollable eating.
Good points are loving, happy other times, gives hugs freely, can attach to caregivers.
My gut says to say no, but I think it may be mostly out of fear. Anyone have experience with kids with long term exposure to meth like this?
I haven't been able to find anything on the internet about what happens to kids as they get older.
Thanks for your input!

Yes, yes, and yes..this is my son at 26 months. He was exposed to daily heroin and meth for whole pregnancy. Please let's talk. I'm desperate for friendship around this area.
Dont hide your talking....I need to hear it also. My 16 month old was exposed to meth, alcohol, etc. We are having major meltdowns.

Hi. Our son started terrible 2's at 16 months..ugh. he's 26 months now. Things are very rough. I would like to be encouraging but sadly..it does get harder. I'm not trying to be a downer,,but also I think it's good to know what's ahead. I wouldn't trade a second of my life and my son is my world. But..wow..is it hard. If you want to talk, let me know. Hang in there. You aren't alone!
Sure, we can talk. I am all for discussing issues such as this. We are having a real hard time right now with her and so I can already tell that the older she gets the harder it will be to control her temper/meltdowns. We are hoping to be able to identify the triggers and meltdowns early so that we can do what is best for her.
It sure is frustrating loving someone so much but being exhausted by their innocent actions when you can't really fuss at them for what they are doing.
