Are you licensed yet? If not - that is where you start. Call your county children's division. Typically you can just google it and get a #. They will put you on a list for licensing classes. Not sure what the requirements are in where you are - here you take 12 classes (once a week for 3 hours each). In addition to the classes, they do a home study.
Once you get licensed you wait for the phone to ring. That can take a matter of minutes to months. Just depends on how fast kids are coming into care and how many beds are available in your county.
Once you are licensed as a foster family (at least in my state) THEN you can take the classes and do the adoptive home study.

Depending on where you are in Florida the process to become licensed can be pretty quick. In our area they offer all day saturday classes for four weeks. We had a sibling group of three within three days of being licensed, licensing for foster care took a total of two months including classes, background and home study. Here its fostering only, no special adoption classes. There are more opportunities depending on your flexibilty and willingness on ges and races. Good luck!
Where are in Central Florida area. Fostering and adoption PRIDE classes are offered or they just started an adoption only class. We are straight adopt (which takes longer as fostering is more priority to get them licensed). We started classes in March, finished in June, and just finished our home study a week ago. Now the wait for approval. We were told it could be up to 3 months. Go to Explore Adoption. Call the 800 number and they will direct you to the person in charge of your area. Good luck!
