Has anyone ever heard of CPS waiving the 90-day wait after TPR, before an adoption? Our lawyer mentioned that CPS may do that in our case, and adoption could be in late February or early March when TPR was today. The baby is with his brother in our home, so I assume we count as kin in a way. The birth parents (wow--today's the first day I can call them that) are currently not in contact with anyone and did not come to today's hearing. Obviously no family ever came forward previously in this case or in the previous case since we adopted the big brother 1.5 years ago. Does any of that give CPS the right to waive the 90 days?

Sounds very similar to our case. We have court later this week for Li'l Abner. With Li'l Singer the 90 day waiting period was reduced to 20 days and only parents could appeal, they didn't, of course. (I didn't find out that they only had 20 days until I read the redacted files just before adoption, so worth checking into if it is not mentioned during the hearing.
I am hoping with Li'l Abner that the waiting is reduced also, so ready to be done with this round of craziness.

We had court this week, a date has been sent for TPR on bio mom - the unknown father factor possibly at the same time, but we'll see about that, CPS CW is not concerned, says he sees this all the time, doesn't expect much of a delay if any.
CPS CW said that bios will only have a 30 day appeal period - not 90...TPR is set for end of April and he will be turning the case over to the adoption side around Labor Day...sounds good to me :happydance:
How exciting for you all! It's nice to know when things will start happening!
Our baby's case worker came this week. I guess our lawyer contacted her right away to request a waiver. I don't think we'll be getting it because she listed several reasons. Her supervisor can file a paper to waive it, but the list of reasons why it's not likely to happen made me think I better just be patient. We will wait for the health paperwork (I always forget what it's called HYSOP, or something) and the redacted files. We've adopted without the files before and also set the date for another case without knowing if the files would arrive in time. It seems that this time they are going to make sure we get the files and paperwork before anything happens. She already requested the redacted files the day of TPR, and I know they aren't normally taking more than three months anymore since we did get them in time the last adoption. She told us we can start transitioning to his new name and trim his hair, so we can wait a few more months for adoption!
