Hi All, I am from TN and looking for others in TN that could possibly help me. I adopted my grandson when he was 3 months and he is now 7. The bio. parental grandparents sued for visitation and won. We have been in court for 7 years and have been jailed for contempt. We could be jailed again. I am the parent of my adopted child and after the adopted the Chancery Court Judge John Weave of Knoxvile ordered visitation and after we refused he jailed us for civil contempt. We have appealed and we are now in the USDC. We have contacted every one we know and no one in TN will help us. This Judge is still trying to put us back in jail even though we have appealed. I will not go on wiht my story as of now. It would be nice to hear from some of you who has bad experences with adoption and or with the justice system. TN. Rashell

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. If you don't mind my asking, why is it so important to you that the paternal grandparents not be allowed visitation? Do you consider them to be potential abusers? If you have some basis for thinking they might harm your grandson, maybe you could bring that up with the judge at your appeal. If they still insist on allowing them visitation rights, maybe it could at least be supervised visitation or something.
You might get more response if you post this on a different board; this board is for Canadian/ Quebec adoption issues. I believe there is a Tennessee board; there's also a "Legal Issues" board under General Adoption Issues.

The State Attorney General of TN is going to be the Judges Attorney against us. We are suing this Judge and he is trying to do every think he can to stop us, even jail for an extended stay. I know the laws in my state and it is unlawful for any visitation after an adoption. This Judge even addressed the bio. Dad who's rights was termainated for drug use. Rashell
I am looking for TN adoption groups. Yes the bio. Grandparents did abuse my child and there is a charge in against them. The problem is that the higher court will have to hear our case before we can hear the abuse charge. I guess I am on the wrong board. I will keep looking ofr the groups I need. Rashell
The GAL in my case is now tring to over turn my adoption because we refused to allow visitation. He is saying we committed fraud by saying we would allow visits and now we are not. He is saying this is enough to take our 7 year old child away from us and we wants us back in jail. If any one out there is from TN and can help. You can contact me at mickles31@aol.com.
