Picking out a name

How did you and your spouse pick out a name for your child(ren)? Did you take advice from other people? My husband and I always have a terrible time coming up with names because I like very old fashioned names, whereas he likes newer or more trendy names. How do you find a balance?

I came up with the name of my child when I was 10 years old with my girlfriend, but when I saw my son, I realized that he was not Michael, but Denny.
