Advice for Adoption

My best piece of advice would be to get educated. Adoption is not as simple as it seems, and sometimes adoptive couples find themselves in over their heads due to lack of education. Find classes, talk to other adoptive couples, birth parents, and most importantly adoptees about how to make your adoption as healthy and successful as possible.

' Ditto ' or well said with the education component and previous posting.I have friends who Adopted Boy and Girl Twins. After the ' Original Adoptive Parents only desired a ' Little Girl ' .As either or both Parents and a Family. What are your ' General Expectations ' regarding Adoption?

My friend who has worked as an adoption social worker for over 20 years recently said that it's essential to be FLEXIBLE. To recognize that life is imperfect and often unpredictable. That people change over time. That your plans can be changed when new information comes.
