Hi shirlee,
Whose adoption are you talking about?
If you are one of the triad members involved, you should know if it was open or closed. Open means the birthparents and adoptive parents have exchanged identifying info... and there are usually letters exchanged and visits between the birthfamily and adoptive family.
As far as LEGALLY open or closed..
Most states do not have legally enforceable open adoptions. I have an open adoption (I know where my birthdaughter lives, visit with her, send letters to her aparents, etc.). But legally it is considered a closed adoption... all the adoption records and the original birth certificate are sealed.
Don't know if any of this helps....?
