I'm interested in an older child adoption (over the age of 10) and I'm also LDS. Is there a method somehow to find waiting children who are LDS or have an LDS background? It seems rough to make a child over the age of 10 join your church if they don't understand it. I would really prefer to adopt a child who wants to be LDS.
I tried doing a basic search focused in Utah, but I'm not sure that this is the best way to go about this. I don't live in Utah. In Arizona, where I live, it is somewhat difficult to find LDS children. I'm open to a nationwide search, however.
Any other suggestions for finding older LDS kids who are waiting for adoption? Does LDS Family Services do this?

I was just wondering if I could get this kind of information as well. I no these messages are older but if anyone reads here that would be great.

I would ask for the information, but I've found out that you can't be single and adopt through LDSFS. Good luck to the rest of you.

A lot of times, LDSFS gets referrals from all different states regarding older children. They act as a referral or facilitator, but their policy is to almost never do older child adoptions. Therefore, you could be single and still work with LDSFS about referrals and homestudies, but you would also need an attorney and need to work with the state the children would be coming from. Don't rule them out completely!

Hi,
I'm not LDS, but I do remember occasionally seeing some cute kids on the Idaho state adoption page and the description said something about the children preferring an LDS family. So you might want to keep your eye on that web site to see if any more LDS kids come up.
Hope this helps!
Have you looked into the Perpetual Education Fund?

It seems like a better option than adoption. Families are forever!
