I just received a call from our agency and the good news is that our case is moving "faster than average". The bad news is also that our case is moving "faster than average". My husband and I are as anxious as anyone to have our son home, but traveling over the holidays is simply not an option for us. We've made plans for the care of our bio son (my sister will come literally across the country to stay with him while we're gone), I have a business trip I cannot postpone or cancel, and there's the little issue of the Christmas holiday itself.
Can anyone tell me if they've had similar cases and what they did to work things out? (It might be more accurate to say "can anyone help pry my fingers out of the ceiling?") Our agency has said that we'll work things out as they happen, which intellectually I understand, but..jeez. I need more than that to chew on mentally, you know?
We're really only talking about a week or two at the most, so it's possible we could look at paying for foster care. If anyone's had experience with that, too, I'd love to hear about it--good or bad. I need as many facts as I can get.
