This is my first time here. My husband and I ready for adoption, but being in the military, we have no idea where to start. ANY help would be appreciated.
Welcome!
We're a Navy family. Where to begin would depend on a lot of factors, like where you are stationed, the type child you're hoping to find (infant, toddler, older waiting child, special needs, boy, girl, race, etc), the type adoption you want to have (domestic, international, state facilitated, agency facilitated, private, open, semi-open, closed). You need to make some of those decisions first before you know what step to take next.
We adopted from Russia in 1998 for a lot of reasons and are pursuing our second child, hoping to return this spring. Our son is 4 1/2 and an absolutely WONDERFUL young man.
Best of luck to you on this amazing journey.

We will be stationed at Ramstein AB by next August. Right now my husband is on remote in the Azores. We would like to get started now, but know that it will probably be put on hold until we move next August. We hope to adopt an infant or toddler. We don't mind what race or if it's a boy or girl. I wonder if there is anything that I can do now to make adoption go more smoothly when we get to Germany. ?.?
We have thought alot about international adoption, but we are open to any kind of adoption. I guess the most important part to us is to just adopt, however. We have been married for almost 12 years and have two children biologically. We have put years of thought into this and we feel we are really ready now. I assume that stateside adoption would be easier if we were going to be stationed there, but since we aren't, we are open to any adoption option that is available to us. I appreciate the help you've given so far. What's the best way to get started online with research? I've done searches with "adoption" and "military adoption". Not much out there that I've found so far.
