My husband and I have been married for 9 years. We've been through all the fertility options with no success so we are interested in adoption. We really want a baby. We have no children and desperately want to have a child. Honestly, I am frustrated, confused, scared, mad, etc. We are both 32 years old, college graduates, and never dreamed we would not be able to have children. We don't have thousands of dollars but I know we could provide a child with a warm, loving, stable home. We are in the process of PCSing and wondered if anyone knows of adoption options in Utah. Our next duty station is Hill AFB. Any replys would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.  :(
Hi,
We PCS'd from Hill about 18 months ago... My question to you is this.. are you LDS? If so, then you can go through LDS Social Services for adoption... if not, there is www.hearttoheartadoptions.net
Or you can do what we did for two out of our four children, we became foster parents for that state of Utah and received a 13 year old and his baby brother.....
Hope this helps,
Michelle D.

Thanks for responding and for the information. No, we are not LDS, we are Baptists. I will check out the Heart to Heart website right now.
How did you like Hill? Did you live on base? How is the housing?
Thanks!
Talisa
Hill was interesting...
Housing, if you are an officer, is the same as it was in 1972. Very institutional... very old tile and very military looking. If you are enlisted, the houses are nicer, have garages but were built by the lowest bidding contracter.. in other words, not very well... winters, the cold and wind blow through and summers it can get warm.
The base closes up each day between 6-7 p.m. Bx, Commissary, Class six.... nothing is open past 7.
The people are nice... the scenery is beautiful.. skiing is awesome!
Michelle
Thanks for the info. The housing cant be worse than here. We live on Elmendorf AFB in Alaska and it hasnt been updated since the 50s. Of course the enlisted housing is brand new. I swear every place we go the story is the same...we've updated enlisted but not the officers housing yet.
Well if we win the lottery or some how come up with $20,000 we might go with the heart to heart adoptions agency!
Thanks and take care.

hi1
My husband in stationed out of McConnell AFB in Wichita KS. We are actually in Salina KS. He works on the bombing range out here. I have gone with him when he went tdy to Hill. We actually have friends there too. They call it planet Utah, because if you are not Mormon it is like a whole different world. We found it very interesting in the short stays that we have had. But ooooohhhhh the scenery is beautiful!!!!
As for the money, make sure you check into the military reimbursement, the tax credit, some agencies with help you somewhat with financing parts of the expenses. You may try the National Adoption Foundation. They have information on how to apply with MBNA bank, however, that is a credit card style loan. I believe they have more stringent criteria than someone offering an installment loan. You may check into another one I found yesterday....it is APFUSA.com They are like a go-between that helps you find banks that offer unsecured loans for adoption, legal fees, medical expenses...etc.
I wish I could help with the child/agency search...but I know nothing about Utah. Good luck and God Bless in all you do.
MTV had this true life: I am adopted. This birthmother from Hawaii came to utah to have her baby because of the adoptive parents. Anyway they have the best laws for adopive parents. The bmom has to wait 24hours before she can sign after she has given birth. Once the papers are signed that's it she can not change her mind. The bmom did try month later to get the baby Cooper back but too late. It was the best show. It had people looking for bmoms and meeting bmoms. The show again was MTV True Life: I am adopted
We are Navy and are looking so forward to meeting our daughter where ever she is.
Hi, I will love to adopt too. I got here around 7 months ago. Maybe we can get in touch and help one to each other.
We are a Coast Guard family, and we live in Alaska.
We are doing an international adoption through Alaska International Adoption Agency. After hours and hours of searching, emails, and reading, we decided the best, fastest, and most affordable way to get a caucasian infant boy was through Russia.
For those complaining about military housing...stop! At least you in the Air Force have housing - 95% of the Coast Guard units we are at don't have any housing at all! (But we love the CG anyhow!). You don't know how good you've got it...!!! :p
Best of luck to those starting out.

Dear Coast Guard Family,
I am assuming that your "complaining" comment was directed to me. Just to let you know, that was not "complaining" as you put it: it is stating fact. The person asked about how housing was at the Air Force Base they were going to. I answered their question.
